For Immediate Release
LANTest is a comprehensive DOS and Windows LAN test suite that quickly isolates performance bottlenecks on LANs and WANs. In contrast to expensive network analyzers that only isolate packet and protocol problems, LANTest provides insight into a wide range of problems that can rob PC networks of performance. With the data gathered by LANTest, users can now make informed decisions on system upgrades, saving thousands of dollars on new equipment that doesn't address the real problem.
The easy-to-use Windows 3.1 graphical interface guides the user through a series of benchmarking tests that isolate the various problems and then suggest possible solutions to enhance network performance.
CPUTest- Provides a simple benchmark to test the PCs speed in areas that affect overall network performance. The CPUTest checks raw CPU performance as well as memory and I/O port access speed. There is also a test for interrupt latency which is ignored by most benchmarking products but can invisibly rob PC performance on LANs.
SegTest- The first benchmark of it's kind to isolate the speed of the NIC (Network Interface Card) and its access to the network from other factors that affect performance. SegTest also tests smart hubs and routers which can inadvertently be configured to restrict the workstations access to the full bandwidth of the network.
ISegTest- Benchmarks inter-segment delays caused by introducing routers and bridges between workstations and file servers. These delays are all too often lumped in with file server performance and can lead to costly upgrades of servers with no increase in performance! ISegTest can be run between any two nodes on the network allowing the performance degradation caused by routers and bridges to be accurately measured and compared.
FileBench- Provides a total performance test of the PC file system across the network to a file server or to the local hard disk system. Caches and other forms of optimization are included as part of the benchmark allowing the user to make changes and then re-test to optimize performance. FileBench can be customized to select the size of the test file, location, packet size, access methods and other factors that can dramatically affect network performance.
Graphs and charts contrast the current performance with previous tests or with sample test data included with the LANTest software. Also included on the LANTest disk is a demonstration of MTI's new Shared LAN Cache* (SLC*) software that improves the performance of LANs and WANs by caching data read across the network. The SLC* Client software sits on top of existing network shells and drivers keeping the most recently read data in a local RAM or non-volatile hard disk cache for instant access.
LANTest is compatible with all PC LANs and is available for immediate delivery at a special introductory price of $19.95 (plus $5.00 shipping and handling.)
