Mesurement Techniques’ Shared LAN Cache Wins Mier Communications
“NETWORKS AS ADVERTISED” Award

STOUGHTON, Mass., October 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Measurement Techniques,
Inc., the technology leader in LAN caching, today announced that
its Shared LAN Cache™ software has gained the acceptance of the
testing industry and has won the "NetWorks As Advertised" award
from Mier Communications.
"Without question Shared LAN Cache is one of the best
solutions we have seen for addressing problems due to network
and server loads when repetitive central file access is
required. In this environment, the product offers an alternative
to an expensive LAN or server upgrade," the Mier Communication
test results report.
The testing methodology includes installation and
configuration, ease of use, functionality, and performance. Ed
Mier president of Mier Communications said, "This award is
presented to vendors only for products that are proven to
perform as advertised, and we at Mier Communications can
independently attest that the product does what it is intended
to do and that it is a good buy."
Shared LAN Cache (SLC™) improves network performance by
storing recently accessed files in a combination of local and
shared caches. SLC is NOS independent and incorporates a non-
volatile cache that eliminates redundant read request over the
network. "Shared LAN Cache allows IT managers to maximize the
performance of existing networks and to optimize networks
deployed in the future. It's a simple and effective method for
increasing network performance and productivity at a relatively
low cost," said Clinton Battersby, president of Measurement
Techniques.
Mier Communications concluded that Shared LAN Cache increased
performance by as much as 300 percent. "Under all test
scenarios, in which we applied varying amounts of load on file
servers, on the LAN and on wide area links, SLC client software
consistently delivered performance gains, in the form of reduced
application-launch time, in the specific environment where
server-based applications are repeatedly opened by a user at a
client workstation."
According to the Mier Communications' "NetWorks as
Advertised" test report Shared LAN Cache is an "excellent
software product that works out of the box.. Much of the
software's operations are transparent to the user."
"These test results validate the dramatic performance
enhancing results that our customers have experienced in their
networks with Shared LAN Cache," said Battersby. "MTI has the
fullest breadth and depth of Network Operating Systems support
in the industry and remains the leading provider of client
network caching. We are proud to accept "NetWorks As Advertised"
award from Mier Communications."
